Introduction to Japanese Woodblock Printmaking 21Pr7-2

Develop new skills or advance your knowledge of Japanese woodblock printmaking. At the onset of the workshop, participants will make a two-color print from prepared blocks using: water-based pigments, kento registration, and pressing with a baren – all unique hallmarks of the mokuhanga (wood print) process dating back to 17th -century Japan. The class will then move into carving and printing an individual design (7 x 10-inch image). Mary will provide thorough demonstrations along the way and give personalized guidance.
