Classes

Note that for 2022 classes, masks are currently required, as is proof of vaccination. The Art Colony is assessing practices on an on-going basis. Masking or changes to our safety plan may be required for any of the following reasons:

    • Art Colony classes are in intimate settings, in close proximity for several hours at a time and variants and uncertainties still exist around the spread of COVID-19.
    • Some students or instructors may have underlying conditions preventing them from getting vaccinated, and COVID-19 can still be carried and contracted by those with a vaccine, causing spread to unvaccinated populations.

Visit our COVID-19 Safety Protocol Page here to learn more.

The health and safety of our community, students and visiting artists is of upmost importance. Thanks for doing your part.

The Art Colony hosts classes with instructors who are practicing studio artists and college and university faculty from May – September. Instruction covers a broad spectrum of media including: ceramics, drawing, literary arts, painting, printmaking, and sculpture, among others. The Art Colony’s studio session series is also a perfect way for advancing and mid-career artists to work alongside similarly-skilled artists on their works in progress in a free flowing, yet guided environment.

All Skill Levels Welcome

The Art Colony values the diversity of creative expression present within our community. The following class categories are designed to meet specific needs:

  • Foundational Series: For students with no experience or who want to try a medium for the first time.
  • Open to All Levels: For students who are NOT looking for basic-level experience and eager to learn various techniques and methods in a mixed-skill environment. Often this category provides rich learning to happen between students as well as between the instructor and students.
  • Experience Required: For students who have gained foundational knowledge in a specific medium. See individual class prerequisites in class descriptions.
