Revering Rock: Painting Geology
Join Monica to explore the texture, color and inherent traits of rock and stone. Inspired by local land, students will gain a deeper understanding of geological surfaces and the symbolism surrounding rocks and stone as well as develop interpretive skills while using watercolor to create a series of studies. The class will work both indoors and outside, spend time with a local ecologist to learn about the geology of the region, and make a visit to the Grand Portage National Monument. Prerequisite: Familiarity with basic use of watercolor, including washes, layers, and mixing colors.
