Maiolica Tiles 21C10-1

Karin will begin with a short history of Maiolica pottery and tile and outline some contemporary work in clay, as well as kick things off with a glazing demonstration. Students will then experiment with Maiolica on pre-made and glazed tiles. Tiles will be fired overnight so they are ready to take home the next day. On the second day, students will learn to make slabs for flat tiles and learn an easy technique for carving bas-relief tiles.

REGISTRATION NOTES

This class must meet minimum enrollment by September 7, 2021 at 4 PM. Please register before this date to ensure your spot.

Due to current covid-19 safety protocol, class enrollment will be limited to allow for physical distancing, etc. Students are encouraged to register early. Should you find that the class you want to attend is full, we encourage you to get on our waitlist and, as safety standards continue to evolve, we anticipate that additional class spaces will be made available.

Should covid-19 affect our ability to meet in person this class will pivot to a shortened virtual class that would be demonstration/discussion focused.
