Introduction to Relief Printing

Explore relief printmaking and elements of design utilizing found objects and more traditional printmaking materials. In this introductory class, Monica will guide students in designing a linocut using positive and negative space to create an image. Students will also spend time learning to carve a relief block and print it by hand and with a press. By the end of the class, students will have the opportunity to complete two prints, one 4 x 6-inch and one 6 x 9-inch.
