Exploring Gouache and Mixed-media

Shannon will offer a comprehensive introduction of the tools, techniques, and creative possibilities of mixed-media work with a focus on exploring gouache paint. Students will consider how other contemporary artists use experimental drawing and painting as their primary practice while exploring the possibilities of incorporating gouache. Shannon will lead students through a variety of experimentations and exercises to learn the parameters of gouache. Techniques demonstrated will include color mixing, under painting, experimental drawing, photo transfer, collage and non-traditional mediums.
