Oil Painting Plein Air

Enjoy the picturesque landscape of Grand Marais by spending the weekend painting outdoors. Neil will discuss and demonstrate the basic elements of plein air painting—such as how to look past the leaves, twigs, and branches to paint a convincing composition, tips on mixing colors, and materials and gear. Instruction will also cover artistic techniques such as perspective, form, and value, and there will be plenty of time to paint.

Note that this class is entirely outdoors and will not incorporate any studio access or indoor instruction. Students are encouraged to closely review the supply list below and contact the Art Colony with any questions.
