Writing as Excavation

In this immersive workshop, we’ll use generative exercises to unearth the stories within us that are awaiting disclosure and discovery. Exploring new imaginative terrain can be intimidating. Yet it is the writer’s task to peel back layers, pursue deeper truths, and see past the surface of the familiar. Using writing prompts that operate as invitations, students will excavate past creative blocks, find permission to articulate interior worlds, and locate the heart of their stories in order to bring them to life.

This workshop is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. Although free of charge for all participants, donations ($10 suggested) are welcome and gratefully received.
