Virtual Demonstration: Significant Fluxes in Glaze Chemistry
This online demonstration Chotsani will focus on examining the significant fluxes at characteristics in three firing temperatures zones, Cones: 04 (low fire), 6 (mid-range), and 10 (high fire). This examination of the fluxes in the 3 firing zones will give insight into the foundation of glaze chemistry and the categories and characteristics of glaze; matte/semi-matte, opaque/semi-opaque, transparent/clear, and the melting points and range of these fluxes. In addition a selection of some of the fluxes will be combined with other raw materials providing participants the experience to see how added materials interact and change the characteristics of the fluxes.
The significant fluxes examined:
- Sodium
- Potassium
- Lithium
- Calcium
- Magnesium
- Barium
- Manganese
- Zinc
- Strontium
No participant supplies are needed apart from a solid internet connection and something on which to take notes.
