People of Clay 21C6-1
During the week students will explore how to build the human form using handbuilding techniques such as coils, hollow out, and solid, focusing on anatomy, structure, proportion and movement in the clay figures. Students will create various figures ranging from 2-3 inches to 12-15 inches tall. Small figures will be fired during the week, bigger projects will need to dry longer and students can take home greenware. Underglazes will be used to apply color and designs on some of the figures.
