NonFest: Telling True Stories: Memoir to Novel 21LA11-1

This class is part of the North Shore Readers and Writers NonFest.

This two-day workshop will focus on understanding the heart of the story you want to write, identifying the genre best suited to telling it, and developing broader themes by incorporating cultural identity, place, historical context, and characters. Class includes genre discussion, the writer’s “contract” with the reader, readings from selected memoir and fiction writers, writing exercises, and sharing in-class writing.

REGISTRATION NOTES

This class must meet minimum enrollment by September 30, 2021 at 4 PM. Please register before this date to ensure your spot.

Due to current covid-19 safety protocol, class enrollment will be limited to allow for physical distancing, etc. Students are encouraged to register early. Should you find that the class you want to attend is full, we encourage you to get on our waitlist and, as safety standards continue to evolve, we anticipate that additional class spaces will be made available.

Should COVID 19 affect our ability to meet in person this class will pivot to a shortened virtual class that would be demonstration/discussion focused.
