Mixed Media Drawing

Explore an experimental approach to traditional drawing practices. Students will combine observational drawing in dry media–focusing on portraits, still lifes, and landscapes–with construction paper collage to learn both effective methods of achieving realism and the fun possible with pushing into abstraction. Each day will begin with a brief lecture on relevant contemporary artists and practices, followed by guided studio time. Class will end with a soft group critique.
