Found Horizons

With Lake Superior as our model, we will focus on the line where the sky meets the water. Elusive, mythical, and mysterious, we will explore the horizon through discussions, demonstrations, and exercises that work with the meanings and technical aspects of color choices, composition, and mark-making. Working from our immediate sketches and historical imagery–both contemporary and classical– and our imagination, we will investigate how to create emotional and intellectual content through simple but powerful imagery.  Prerequisite: students should have experience mixing paint colors and applying paint to a surface.
