FAB-LAB Intensive: Introduction to Welding Steel Sculptures
FAB-LAB is an opportunity to synthesize introductory metal fabrication skills with the concept and challenge of constructing an exaggerated scale “insect sculpture.” Students will study the line and form qualities of an insect of their choosing and “scale up / re-interpret” its sculptural qualities while learning basic skills in welding and metal working using re-claimed scrap and new metals. Through image discussion, demonstrations, and hands on studio time, students will fabricate a welded sculpture.
