Drawing in Space: Sculpture with Wire

Line is the most fundamental element of artmaking; used to define shapes and figures, but also indicate motion, emotion, and other elements. Students will explore the multi-faceted ways that line can be used by drawing in space and constructing a three-dimensional form.  By investigating the intricate systems of lines found in the patterns and structure of insects, students will translate their observations into constructing inventive sculptural forms.  The process of manipulating and crafting aluminum, copper and steel will result in fascinating sculptural insects of an exaggerated scale.
