Community Event: Blackware Drum Firing

All skill levels are invited to participate in an outdoor blackware drum firing activity. Coreena will have a number of pre-made pieces for purchase ranging from $35 – $65. Each participant should bring one bundle of wood to the firing (small, the size you can pick up at a gas station).

Please come between 10 – 11 am If you wish to have a piece fired, either one you will purchase or one you will bring with you.

If anyone wishes to bring a piece of their own, a raku clay body is recommended, burnished with at least 3 coats of terra sigillata. The fee for firing your own piece is $15. Greenware pieces should be relatively small (6 x 6-inch max) and not have too many applique elements added to them as they can break off in this type of firing. The ware should not be bisque fired, only greenware. Simple work tends to be best. No pre-registration necessary.
