Beginning Wheel Throwing

The pottery wheel is a wonderful tool for generating ceramic forms. In this beginner class, students will receive an introduction to ceramic art, including historical and contemporary examples, and learn the process of transforming clay into ceramic through a hands-on exploration of wheel-throwing. Ben will teach students to prepare clay for use and center on the wheel as well as how to open up the clay and raise the walls. Students will also learn how glazes can be used to finish a ceramic piece. Each student will leave with a select number of finished pieces.
