Discovering Oil and Cold Wax

Whether you want to learn a non-traditional approach to oil painting or explore oils for the first time, this is an excellent opportunity for you! This workshop will introduce you to the process of combining cold wax medium with R&F’s Pigment Sticks (oil paint in stick form) and tube oils to apply paint without the use of brushes and smelly solvents. We will work primarily on Arches oil paper so that you’ll have several paintings going at once and they can easily be transported back home. Students will learn the importance of authenticity and variation in their work. We will cover pigment opacity and transparency, mark making, color mixing, along with creative methods for transferring paint to the substrate. This workshop is fun, a bit messy, and will change the way you think about oil painting.
