Virtual: Armchair Plein Air 21V-Pa3-1

Armchair travel and sketch from the comfort and safety of home. Travel partners from France, Italy, Cuba, Sweden and Lake Superior’s North Shore provide weekly videos so you can practice scouting and planning a composition as if you were on site. Learn a less-is-more approach to gear so you can pack up and set up easily. Plein air technique helps you simplify shapes, keep washes fresh, and bring lively brushwork to your painting whether your goal is to sketch or studio painting. Still photos, as convenient as they are, invite overworking. Bring together strengths from both approaches. Livestream and recorded demos on portable materials and travel-tested methods will have you out sketching close to home and up to speed whenever travel is possible again.

This class is taught virtually over Zoom and Google Classroom through live stream demos, step-by-step guidelines and templates, class sharing time, and personalized instructor feedback. Students need a stable internet connection and Google account to participate. Access details will be sent to registered students.
