Hybrid Forms
Hybridity, in its most basic sense, refers to mixture. Students will read and write across forms, including poetry, creative nonfiction, and fiction. Kathryn will provide readings and facilitate discussions on works that blend, mix, or don’t easily fall into one specific form. Framed around Susanne Paola’s concept of “more than one meaning-making mode,” this class allows students to try their hand at free verse, ekphrastic writing, writing inspired by nature, and also explore craft elements such as description, point of view, and voice, allowing each element to “exert a force and change the other.”
Registration for this class remains open until July 20, 2019. Please register before this date.
